Flavory Bistro in Ankeny

Delicious food! We ordered the Mediterranean Feast and everything was fantastic! Friendly atmosphere, easy to park, no wait. I'll definitely be back.

Best restaurant I ever been, the flavors took me back home, had a great experience. My kids loved it.Will be back for sure .

Looked appealing from outside and decided to give it a try. Extremely friendly service and the food is delicious! Smoked Salmon Panini and Chicken Gyro were excellent choices.We will return.

First time eating here and I am very happy with the food and service. I had the beef gyros with a side of Mediterranean fries. Flavor of the food is very good. Clean tables and restaurant. Will definitely eat here again.

Amazing food!!! The service here was fabulous and friendly! You can't leave without trying the fresh made hummus... Already craving it! The platters were plentiful and shareable. Yummm!!!!

I love this place!!! It’s hard not to eat here everyday!! I wish they had more hours they were open. The atmosphere and employees are fantastic! The food is beyond amazing. I try something new every time I go on. The wine is also great! Not a huge selection but they have some good ones. Nothing to complain about. I think he’s the owner or manager but he so nice and helpful. He is always trying to give each customer a great experience. When it gets busy it’s hard to find a seat some days. I bet one day they will expand! Hopefully they can keep their homemade food with great quality.

Would have been 5 stars but I got cold steak. Otherwise amazing food! I recommend the hummus plate appetizer

Food wasn't bad, well over an hour wait for some gyros was a bit much.

Called ahead for the paella which was wonderful and plentiful. They dropped off a warm fresh basket of bread. She also let us try her homemade cheese that was amazing. It tasted like it was aged but was a soft texture. Will definitely be going back many times.

This place is out of this world. I ordered a prosciutto scramble that came with the most amazing cows milk cheese I’ve ever had. It was exquisite - heavenly even. The staff was amazing and I loved that I could sit at the bar and watch them make it. They also brought me a complimentary yellow milk which was delicious and an amazing gluten free cake that was to die for. I think this place would be successful everywhere in the world and wish there was one nearby me in Michigan. This dining experience has been phenomenal. I’ll be back.

Amazing! We had the Seafood Paella and had salmon instead of chicken. So so so good! All employees in masks, very clean, and great service.

Food was over all very good and well cooked. Owner seemed nice and was very friendly. I got the turkey panini with a side of fries and it was very filling.

Braved the roads and cold last night to meet friends at Flavory Bistro in Ankeny. OMGosh. So glad we did. We have made several visits to this restaurant, and the food is always incredible. This time we had the paella and Mediterranean bruschetta and shared a bottle of the FANTASTIC Montenegro red wine with baklava and various forms of coffee for dessert. I don't think I have ever taken pictures of food, but I couldn't resist the beautiful paella. The photo does not do the seared scallops and perfect shrimp etc. justice. Four HEARTY eaters, and we still had some to take home!! Remains of the delicious (like you have never had before with Lisa's homemade cheese & special sauce) bruschetta is in the upper corner of the photo. So fun! God bless Lisa and Hector and the entire Flavory Bistro crew!

Had dinner with my wife here last Saturday. I had the gyro with fries. The gyro meat was seasoned as I expected and cooked perfectly. The tzatziki sauce was refreshing, but could use more herbs.We came during the dinner rush and the service could have been better. At one point, we had nothing to drink as ours were empty.

The food was really good, we tried both steak and lamb and both of them were good. The owner was nice and friendly and at the end he even brought us tea and baklava on the house!

Fantastic food and a great dining experience! Menu has something for everyone, from shareable plates to well-portioned individual plates. Crepes for dessert were amazing. Best part was the polite and attentive service... The owner stopped by our table to ensure we were having a great experience! Will definitely be going back!

Wonderful experience. The staff was awesome and the food was the best I’ve ever had.

Avoid this place! We had a shocking experience with an exceptionally rude man who would not let us eat the food we had on the table! All because we were 3 and had moved to a table for 6?! (his staff helped us move to that table 🙄). He got aggressive and in my wife's face after she said we would be quick, 30 minutes. His unnecessarily cowardly behaviour towards visitors from out of town and overseas, left us horrified and feeling terribly unwelcome. That service prevention officer deserves no business. Please rather go anywhere else....

This is a really good place! If you want to taste something new, try Rissoto If you are vegetarian try Gyro Falafel. #yummy

This restaurant was absolutely amazing! We had a beef gyro, risotto, Italian panini and lentil soup-everything was delicious and so full of flavor. The service was excellent. We will definitely be back.

Stopped here for dinner driving between Nebraska and Minnesota and was pleasantly surprised at the quality and choices. Delicious roasted vegetables and a choice of side salads accompanied entrees, along with options to choose risotto or French fries. There was a nice selection of California and European wines by the glass as well as juices and smoothies. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options were built into the menu and didn’t make you feel like a difficult diner.

This was the best meal I’ve had in a really long time. My husband and I had the pleasure of sitting at the counter where we could watch all of the food being made. All of the ingredients are so fresh and the food tastes amazing. Despite being fairly busy, every single worker was friendly and took the time to ask how we were doing and if everything tasted ok. We turned down dessert as we normally would but we were handed a piece of cake to try for free anyway. The cake was also really good. I left this restaurant in a great mood. This is my new favorite restaurant and can’t wait to go back.

Delicious! Everything was great. However, do not go if you are looking for a quick meal. Was only one waiter on a Saturday night and it was busy ‐ long wait for food, hardly saw the waiter, and the bill and our credit card were away from table for a long time, which I don't like. Food was worth it but will plan for a leisurely meal next time and pay cash.

Had a awesome experience in this spot with my kid. The food comes quickly and the service is just great. Prices are reasonable.

It was unbelievable in the best way I can say! The food was just great. Best gyro I think I've ever had. There has been only one place I've eaten at that I preferred the hummus at and this was years ago. This place is a close second. I tried my mother in law's shrimp Alfredo which was also outstanding and there juice beverages there were also really good. I also love how you can see the kitchen is very open and it's a very clean and friendly atmosphere and facility. As far as the wait, it's totally worth it. If your expecting fast food then yes go elsewhere. There was a small wait but I could see clearly all the food was being made from scratch and worth every minute. I feel like places like these are hard to come by and I can say I'm hard to please when it comes to good food. I hope this greatness continues and I'm very excited to be a repeat customer and hopefully one for a long time! Great job Flavory Bistro you've made my taste buds happy and I give you a bonus star! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Really enjoyed this restaurant during my brief visit to Ankeny -- delicious, freshly made food made this an excellent meal. Had the beef gyro without pita & their homemade chicken and vegetable soup -- I highly recommend both items. Would like to come back again if/when I travel through Ankeny again.

One of our favorites although ambience is unexciting and wine list is limited. Very fresh menu. Kitchen in the midst of diners is fun.

Fresh Mediterranean food and friendly service.

Wonderful food that is healthy and made fresh. The staff is fantastic. One of our favorite date nights. I would highly suggest you try it if you haven't.

I like their dishes. The kabob Gyro is one of the best dishes there. Flafel and chicken are also good. Make sure to double check the time before going since they are open during lunch and dinner time only (they start dinner time at 5 PM).

My wife and I were looking for something that was a healthier option and this turned out to be a great pick! The food here taste really high in quality; we ordered one of the bigger sample platters so we got to try multiple things and weren’t disappointed by anything in it. We definitely will be eating here again.

The gyros are fantastic. They feature chunks of meat rather than slices so you may be a bit surprised by what you get but you are in for a treat. The wait staff are friendly and the atmosphere is also nice. Would definitely recommend!

Soul Food! Outstanding! Without a broken down trailer we would have never had the tantalizing Flavory Bistro experience. Thank you Jesus for a broken down trailer!

Lunch service is amazing. I had the Beef gyro and it was incredible. The hummus has a wonderful fresh flavor and the tzatziki sauce is on point. The Lentil soup has a nice warm flavor (warming spices). Definitely will return and highly recommend!

I have been coming here since the opening two and a half years ago. My initial interest was in the high quality unique Mediterranean food. It is as amazing now as it was when they opened. They continue to serve their customers sensational food with warm, kind customer service. Lisa and Hector are very hospitable too and I will continue to enjoy the Flavory Bistro.
